Really? Seriously? A sport coat covered in lethal studs? Quite the liability! How are you going to sit at a restaurant? How are you going to walk through a crowded nightclub? How will you reach over without gashing someone in your path? Perhaps as en expression of the designer's creative abundance, this garment is better left to be enjoyed on the runway. Balance is the key. For those of you with a real strong sense of style and looking to stand out in a crowd, here's an easy way to get noticed and still keep your ensemble in perfect balance. Using an oversize wool scarf will work beautifully when you layer it over a slim fitting suit. Contrasting colors will also compliment this look. Throw in your leather weekender and you're ready for big city living. Not for everyone but perfect for that fashion forward/trendsetter guy. Photo Source: polluteyourbritches

Brown is the new black. It is so easy and safe to pair charcoal slacks - or suit - with black shoes. But why? Charcoal is greatly complimented by brown and the combination is stunning. Don't be afraid to venture into new territories of style by replacing your black shoes with brown. Brown shoes will go with every color fabric including black. As far as I see it black shoes need only be worn with a black tuxedo for a formal affair. Incorporate brown shoes into your daily wardrobe and start a new chapter in your sartorial life. Fishtail parka instead of a raincoat. First made famous by Rock Hudson in a film called Ice Station Zebra, the fishtail park is the perfect substitute for the raincoat. An all weather garment able to withstand rain and snow, the fishtail parka will also keep you warm and can easily be worn over a suit. Photo Source: landerurqijo

White pocket square the right way. The proper way to wear a white pocket square is in a simple square - or rectangular - fold and with no more that 1/2 to 3/4 inch showing. White pocket square defines simplicity and elegance. A sign of a true gentleman, the white pocket square original purpose was to wipe the sweat off the brow on hot days and to make available to any lady that may be in need of fanning herself. Anyone still using it for that purpose? Photo Source: yerrowasian

Denim ought never to be washed. Really? Denim purist will tell you denim ought never to be washed. It is by not washing the jeans that allows the natural distress and aging of the denim to confirm to your body and soften with time. They suggest you put your unwashed jeans in a plastic bag and freeze for 24 to 48 hours and this process will kill any bacteria that may have adhered to the denim. I am not a purist anything so I wash my denim and feel very comfortable with helping my jeans age and distress by wearing AND washing. However as of now, you have an option. Surgeon cuffs on your Sport coat or suit. Surgeon cuff is the term used when having functional button holes on your sport coat or suit coat sleeve. Typically available on bespoke or MTM suits, they can also be obtained by taking your existing coat to your tailor and having him/her open the button holes. There is not much functionality to this feature except to roll the sleeves like a surgeon would, hence the name. However surgeon cuffs on a suit is a real sign of sartorial savvy and can be very impressive in the proper circles. Photo Source: kevinseahbespoke

Keep your feet warm with cashmere socks. I was having breakfast with a friend on a very cold morning this week and though I was plenty warm and very comfortable on my upper body, my feet were freezing. Earlier that morning and against my better judgement, I failed to take my own advice about wearing cashmere socks in winter and I suffered for it. But you don't have to. Let me be your guinea pig. Cashmere socks all winter long and your feet will be grateful. Photo Source: abitofcolor

In the same way that pants that are too short can look ridiculous - not to mention juvenile - pants that are too long can be abominable. Having up to an inch break on the front of your trousers is absolutely acceptable anything more than that and you've gone too far. You can be mistaken for someone who is clueless in regards to tailoring or worst yet,  someone who doesn't really care about how they look. In either case, it will ruin your image. Please avoid it at all costs. Photo Source: getty images

I have been asked recently about the perfect neck fit for a shirt. The answer is this. If you can insert your index and middle fingers between your neck and shirt collar and move them from side to side snugly, then you are experiencing the perfect fit. If you can fit more than two fingers, it will mean the collar is too loose and it will hang too low on your neck. Any less room than that and the shirt collar is definitely too tight. Layer in denim for comfort and style. There's something so comfortable and comforting about denim. It is, also, such an American iconic fabric. No matter who wears it or how, there's a feeling of sartorial autonomy if you will, when wearing denim. Layer it during the colder months and don't be afraid of mixing the various denim washes. Throw on your heavily distressed jeans - whether bought as such or worn out through the years - and go about your day. Celebrate your American way of life. Photo Source: tommyton

Too short for no reason. This is not intended for the fashionista that follows trends and changes his look from season to season. This posting is for the every day man, regular guy who just wants to look good and dress appropriately. The length of your pant leg should always touch the edge of your shoe, at least. It can be longer, it can have a deep break on some slacks but for the most part socks should only show when legs are in motion - walking - or when crossing your legs, not if you're just standing still. Never underestimate the slimming power of the double breasted suit. A double breasted suit is the perfect garment for those with a bit of "love handles" they wish to disguise. The over lapping lapel serves as a coverall for the mid section. Add a chalk stripe in a dark tone and you have hit the jackpot. Walk into any room and hear people comment on your weight loss. Unfortunately there is such a thing as over stylized. Balance - for the most part - is the key to a successful look. Sometimes we tend to overdo it a bit giving way to less than perfect results. I'm a big cheerleader for every men finding his own style and showing it off with gusto AND I also encourage men to strive to look age appropriate and the very best they can look, at all times. Big Watch

Big watch for the big guy. You have all seen the trend leaning towards big watches for men. Big watches work best on guys with wide wrists and big hands. The guys on the broader, bigger physique tend to be the ones that will benefit from the big watch trend. For the thinner, smaller frame guys, you may want to stay with a smaller watch and keep a nice balance between your wrist and your watch. Photo Source: knowthedetails

Holidays are over and is time to get back to exercising. If you're waiting for tomorrow to start; start today. If you hitting the snooze button before getting up for the gym; get up when the alarm goes off. If you're waiting to "feel" like exercising before you actually start, it will never happen. Get up, get started today and you will feel better immediately. I guarantee it. The waiting is over! Photo Source: idealweightformen

Leather jacket as a sport coat. There's something daring and cool about wearing a short cropped, fitted leather jacket as a sport coat. Dressing it up with a shirt, tie and vest will allow for an urban chic feel that can be very sexy. Pair it with worn fitted jeans and motorcycle boots and you may have just reinvented the James Dean look. Photo Source: llundquvistld

Never leave the house unless you like what you see in the mirror. I seem to be failing miserably at taking my own advice these days. Just yesterday I got dressed for an important meeting in the morning and I was not happy with the way I looked in my suit. I chose to ignore what I saw in the mirror and proceeded to go out the door. It took about a 3 block drive before I turned around, came back home and change into a different suit. How we look informs how we feel so it is of the utmost importance to like what you see in the mirror before you go off to your day, especially if you have an important meeting. On a recent trip to NY city I failed to follow my own advice and boy did I "feel" it! Layering during the fall and winter is absolutely essential in order to stay warm. Within that philosophy, the most important layering piece is the undershirt. The undershirt is the garment closest to the body and it should fit just snug enough. It is this layer that will keep the body's warmth locked in and prevent you from feeling excessive cold. Never leave the house without that good old white tee-shirt when is cold outside and you'll always "feel" fine. Photo Source: yellowasian

Cardigans are not just for Mr. Rogers anymore. Though the traditional cardigan is still an important layering piece, there are new interpretations of the cardigan that can be sexy and still keep you warm - if you choose to button it up, that is. A cable knit wool cardigan with a mock turtle-neck collar will keep you warm enough on those milder winter days. Choosing denim to complete your ensemble  will give you that urban-bad-boy look that works so well when you're in the right mood for that vibe. Photo Source:mensfashionandstyle

So how was the  last weekend of the year? Is your body feeling it today? After a couple of days of parties and celebrations, champagne, rich food, chocolates, dancing and screaming plus who knows what else, your body could feel slightly exhausted. Start the new year right with a visit to your favorite spa. Get those toxins out with a nice hot steam, relaxation massage and a couple of dips in the cold pool. Your body will be so appreciative. Hot black peppermint tea will help with the toxins from within. Get off to great start in 2012. Happy NewYear! Photo Source: s....preoccupied
