Simple solids speak volumes when it comes to style. There's something very elegant and a bit traditional in wearing all solids which will always have great impact. A lot of times we feel that an all solids ensemble - especially when is about sport coat and slacks - can be too easy, predictable and even,  dare I say it; boring - the most insulting word in the universal language of fashion. However, it is all about fit, personal style and the perfect color combination. Study this gentleman's look and see how putting together the perfect ensemble of all solids can make you the best dressed and most elegant man in the room. Photo Source:

Sleek and lean. There's  a perfect fit for all body types - trust me I know, that is my job every day. Today's tip is for the sleek and lean bodies who want to feel sexy in a fitted yet elegant look. A fitted turtle neck sweater in either light cashmere or cashmere/silk blend or a very fine and delicate cotton twill will do wonders for this simple look. Pair it with a sleek pair of slacks in a contrasting color and tuck the turtle neck in. Make sure the belt is simple and basic and your shoes are polished. Slick your hair back - if that is an option - and go own the day. It's yours for the taking. Photo Source:

Check on check. Bold is best. I tend to lean towards the more Italian sensibility when it comes to men's fashion and as such I prefer bold colors and statement pieces. Here is a perfect example of how to mix same patterns in different colors. Tried to use a somber color -shirt - as your base and add more vibrant ones  - tie - as you start to create the ensemble. Never be afraid to take chances as long as you are true to your style and always consult the mirror before leaving your house. Like what you see and go on your way. Set your own trend! Photo Source:

White jeans? Think twice before you wear them. The danger with wearing white jeans is that they could make, even a thin trim guy, seem bottom heavy. Especially guys with muscular thighs. Guys with broad shoulders need not worry however all other body types must be conscious of the dangers of wearing white jeans. I'm not saying "don't wear white jeans" I am simply saying be aware of the illusion it can create and always pair the white jeans with a top that is not pulled at the waist. You may wear a jacket or sport coat and this will balance out the lines of the body. Photo Source:

Mani-Pedi, as it is commonly called, is an essential way to maintain cleanliness and fine grooming on your hands and feet. Summer is just around the corner and chances are your feet will be exposed quite a bit, make sure they look their best! The Manicure/Pedicure treatments for men are necessary, not just because of the grooming and aesthetic benefits but also to prevent any kind of foot or nail diseases which can be common in men after the age of 40. It won't take more than 30 minutes for the basic treatment and you - and anyone looking at your feet - will be pleased with the results.   Photo Source:

High top fashion sneakers. I remember the times when high top sneakers were only made by Converse and they wear meant to be worn primarily by basketball players. Well times have changed and high top sneakers, especially big bulky ones, are a hot trend today. This trend is best allocated for the younger guys, think 18 to 32, however I will admit that I have seen older guys pull it off with ease. It is about how young at heart you feel but as always consult the mirror before leaving your house and make sure you like what you see. Photo Source:

Circles and stripes oh my! Not everyone would think of mixing polka dots and stripes however it is a combination that when done properly will really work well. Make sure the shirt is in color contrast with the tie and add a solid color third piece ie: cardigan, vest, sport coat. This will help balance all the pieces into a cohesive look. There is something retro and comfortable about this look that makes it fresh for today's fashions.  Photo Source:

Tone the jewelry down. Sometimes the phrase "less is more" is really applicable. Such is the case with jewelry. Men should really keep the jewelry use down to a minimum. I know that multiple bracelets and oversize watches are a hot trend right now and for the most part I'm OK with that look, however, no need to over do it in any other way. Perhaps if you're Ozzie Osborne or Steven Tyler you can get away with anything you want but how many of you are rock star like the two of them? Not many. Oh and one last thing, don't mix your metals, it's tacky. Choose one and stick to it. Keep it simple please. Photo Source:

The tee shirt has been an American iconic piece since the 1950's when Marlon Brando took it to the next level of exposure when he wore a white tee shirt with a motorcycle jacket and leather cap. It was the dawn of a new era in fashion for men. Always a statement piece, the tee shirt is the most underrated of all garments. A graphic tee will create an immediate look and a very specific expression of individuality. It is also the garment that will not discriminate any body types. Want to express yourself and share your point of view with the world? Find the right tee shirt. Photo Source:

Timeless suits. There's something classic and uber-elegant about a timeless grey flannel suit. Cary Grant brought it into the forefront of style decades ago in Hollywood and still today it holds it's own. I happen to love it with a crisp white shirt and a camel chukka boot, but I can say that any color combination will work beautifully with a grey flannel suit. Photo Source:

Watermelon slacks. Watermelon is the color for pants this Spring/Summer season. You will see watermelon chinos, watermelon jeans, watermelon shorts, it is all about this color. Some call it coral but I call it watermelon. A lot of color slacks will be making a strong appearance this season, there's a real attempt by designers to replace the blue denim jean a bit. When wearing color slacks, it is  always helpful to find a snug fitting pant. Keep in mind that color bottoms tend to add volume to your body which can be very unattractive when wearing loose pants. Freshening up the little black suit for Spring. The back suit for men is a standard, basic piece that should live in every man's closet. We usually associate the black suit with somber, warm, mild, serous dressing , however we can have fun with it. Create a strictly black and white ensemble for Spring by choosing a cotton or light weight wool black suit and pair it with white buck shoes and no socks. Elegant yet current and definitely cool. Slim cargo pants. This is not he first time I write about slim cargos but I have to say I continue to be excited about the versatility of this re-invented slack. Gone is the extra fabric and the pull out pockets and as a result the slim cargo becomes a very practical and versatile slack. Dress it up with a cashmere sweater and tweed jacket and look just right. Perfect for traveling for the convenient extra pockets to hold boarding tickets and passports. The uses for the slim khakis are endless so get familiar. Photo Source:

The round pocket square. Ever wonder how to attain this fold and avoid a huge bulk on your coat pocket? Well the secret is the round pocket square. The round pocket square reduces the amount of fabric needed so much less of it fabric goes into your pocket. It also allows for a flower fold so you can be a little more extravagant in your look, if that's what you're into of course! Photo Source:

Essentials for practical and efficient packing. 1. Find ONE suitcase that is suitable to fit ALL your needs for the trip. 2. Lay everything out before packing into suitcase. 3. When choosing what to pack, think of the amount of days you will be traveling, choose no more than two options per day. You may also add a t-shirt per day you are "truly" going to work out plus ONE pair of work-out shorts. 4. Roll all garments except for dress shirts and jackets. You may also lay pants flat on the bottom of the suitcase for best spacing results. 4. No more than 3 pairs of shoes: dress shoe, casual shoe and work out sneakers. Flat sandals fit anywhere and you can usually fit them in the outside pocket. 5. Wear your bulkiest pieces ie: boots, jackets, etc. on your body so as to maximize suitcase space. 6. All toiletries should fit in one toiletry bag. 7. Use your shoulder bag or back-pack for any electronic devices. 8 If you feel you have NOT packed enough then you are ready to close your suitcase and get your on your way. You have all you need. A timeless look. Is there a more timeless look than a cashmere sweater, khakis and converse sneakers? Perhaps but the simplicity and casual comfort of this look is essentially an American tradition in as timeless a way as it gets. Right now you can pick up a current version of any of these pieces by various designers in any price range and recreate this exact look 50 years after this photograph was taken . Not much needs to change when there is a perfect design aesthetic involved. No need to re-invent the wheel, just keep it rolling. Photo Source:

Bright color chukka boots. The chukka boot has been around since Clark's invented them almost 100 years ago. However this season the chukka boot is getting a major color shift. Fit at any age. The one essential for staying fit is to actually work at it. Daily exercise and proper nutrition has no age limits. Taking care of your body with a daily exercise routine will reduce the risk of cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and many other preventable diseases. It will also have positive results in endurance, stamina, emotional and mental health. You are never too old to treat yourself well. Photo Source: Unknown

Cream is the new white. You will be seeing a lot of cream, khakis and off white fabrics in suits this Spring as they are fast becoming the new white. A much easier color to pull off for the more timid dresser who abhors white or simply feels too self conscious wearing it. Choose a white shirt for the perfect contrast and feel free to add any third color you want to accessorize. Photo Source:

Never use an iron on a suit. The surest and quickest way to ruin the lines of a suit is to have it pressed - or ironed - when sending it to out for a cleaning. Make sure to ask your cleaners to steam your suit and never have it pressed.  Pressing - or ironing - a suit will obliterate the roll of the fabric which creates the beautiful silhouette of the lapel and borders of the suit jacket, making them flat and stiff. Distress denim. Is there still a place for a pair of distress denim jeans? Of course there is. Here are a couple of pointers on how to pull it off. Make sure the jeans are not lose, you need a slim fitting pair. Make sure the distress does not allow skin to show through. Lastly try to pair the jeans with nothing else distressed. A cool tweed sport coat and a good lace-up shoe will do the trick. Photo Source:

Simplicity is best. Is there anything more powerful than a simple, expertly tailored black suit? Absolutely not! There are many schools of thought when it comes to the perfect look on a man. I tend to lean towards the less is more/traditional/simplicity-reigns-supreme school. Nothing beats the perfect black suit in the game of fashion. The key to sartorial success in this game of fashion of course, is fabric and fit, so make sure both are on point and you will be too. Photo Source:
